Book Review: We Were Liars – E. Lockhart

A massive thank you to Hot Key Books, the author and Tandem Collective UK for this copy and allowing me part of the readalong!

The blurb from the back of the book:

1. Read this book. 2. On reaching the final page, you may experience an urgent need to read it all over again. 3. Check your friends have read it. 4. YOU ARE FREE TO TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT ENDLESSLY

We are the Liars. We are beautiful, privileged and live a life of carefree luxury. We are cracked and broken. A story of love and romance. A tale of tragedy. Which are lies? Which is truth? We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award finalist, and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart. Read it. And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.

What a read! It kept me guessing right until the very end!

It was such an interesting writing style, and I felt like I was in Cadence’s head the entire time.

The Liars are a group of four: Cadence, Mirren, Johnny and Gat. Cousins who only meet up during the summer at their grandfathers estate/island.

One summer Cadence is in an accident, and suddenly everything is different. She can’t remember anything of that summer.

She returns two years later to fill in the blanks.

This was such a gripping and emotional read.

I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My name is Lisa and the pooch in my profile picture is my baby, Skye. I love everything bookish! I also find things like tarot and angel cards, along with runes and gemstones really interesting and I like to incorporate these into my photos.
