This is my first read for the OWL’s Magical Readathon.
It completes my astronomy prompt where I was to read the majority of the book when it was dark outside.
The blurb from the back of the book:
Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall, is cursed. Forced to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over, he can only be freed by love. But at the end of each autumn he is transformed into a beast hell-bent on destruction, and after so many failed attempts, his kingdom and its people are barely holding on.
Harper’s life has never been easy, but she’s learned to be tough enough to survive. She won’t let anything hold her back, not her cerebral palsy or her mother’s deteriorating health. But when she is sucked into Rhen’s world, nothing is as it seems. Powerful forces are standing against Emberfalll … and it will take more than a broken curse to save it from utter ruin.
I absolutely loved this book!
It has been on my shelf for a while and I had heard so much hype for this story that I was a little scared to pick it up as I didn’t want to be disappointed.
I am so glad that I read it. I am also equally ecstatic that I have the sequel because I need to get to it very soon!
There are two protagonists: Harper and Rhen.
I loved Harper and she is feisty and witty. She doesn’t let anything stand in her way.
Prince Rhen is intense, mysterious and I soon ended up really loving him.
Commander Grey is another character who should definitely be mentioned. I think I loved Grey most of all.
This story is more or less a retelling of Beauty and the Beast and one of the best I have read.
The writing is fast-paced and easy to read. This is my first book by this author and it most definitely will not be the last.
I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
