Review: Birthday – Meredith Russo

This was a powerful story!

The blurb from the back of the book:

Meet Eric and Morgan. Born on the same day, at the same time, in the same place.

They’ve always shared this one day together, but as they grow up they begin to grow apart. Everyone expects Eric to get a football scholarship, but no one knows he’s having second thoughts. Former quarterback Morgan feels utterly alone, as she wrestles with the difficult choice to live as her true self. Both of them are struggling to be the person they know they are. Who better to help than your best friend?

Told on one day every year, over six years, this is a story about how change pulls people apart… and how love brings them back together.

I received this book in an Illumicrate box quite a few months ago and I’ve only just got to it.

This book takes place on the same day every year. Morgan and Eric were born at the same time and on the same day. We see their lives in snippets from age thirteen to eighteen.

Please be aware that there are difficult parts in this story: bullying and suicide.

It really is a powerful story and one that opened my eyes.

It deals with so many important issues. I think, self acceptance being the main one. I was so happy for Morgan when she finally figured everything out and accepted it.

It was amazing to go on this journey with Eric and Morgan, and to see their love for each other develop.

I don’t want to say much as I don’t want to ruin it for you!

This story is an inspiring one, and I believe that everybody should read it at some point. It puts your life into perspective.

I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My name is Lisa and the pooch in my profile picture is my baby, Skye. I love everything bookish! I also find things like tarot and angel cards, along with runes and gemstones really interesting and I like to incorporate these into my photos.
